If all you know of Matt Kennedy is his output under the downer-punk moniker Kitchen’s Floor you’d probably think donning rose-tinted glasses is something that is outside of his wheelhouse. Kitchen’s Floor’s output to date spares little fondness for the past – to Matt the past is probably just as shit as the present and almost as shit as the future. That being said, Matt’s involvement in Brisbane’s underground music scene stretches back more than a decade, and his fingerprints can be found on a few of the city’s most vital (albeit downcast) recordings of the past 15-odd years. Regardless of his thoughts on nostalgia, his history is rich as far as involvement in Brisbane underground music is concerned. – from “Weirdo wasteland“

Latest offering from the worldwide kings of downer punk, across its ten tracks, “None of That” spins like a propulsive claustrophobic miasma with a certain Matt Kennedy languidly seated, shouting and babbling coherently at the center of the storm. It’s a hummable bummer statement that sounds content and settled in its muck. This is the soundtrack for those out there who take a sober look in the mirror each morning and mutter the mantra “I can’t go on, I’ll go on”. Recall, if you will, the supposition that “home is where the floor is” – “None of That” would suggest that home is in the kitchen.
