Original compositions for the ondes martenot by Julie Normal (cradle of smurf, crash normal) et olivier 2MO (cheveu, heimat), As a twelve inch at 45 rpm for maximum repeatable beauty. Sleeve by Jonas Delaborde.

Chris Stigliano ~Blog to comm: Didn’t know what to think about this album when I first removed it from its quivering envelope, but ACCIDENT turns out to actually be a downright entertaining collection of avant garde musings located somewhere between Terry Riley and Fripp/Eno, all played on an ondes martenot! Pleasurable drones to help soothe the inner you battered daily by the constant onslaught of work and other disgusting necessities of life. (BTW I hope I got the names and titles correct since my French would get me murdered in downtown Paris!) The fact that it’s analog also helps, especially with those pops beginning and ending each side that bring back long-lost memories of vinyl obsession I thought I’d never forget. If you like old old avant as opposed to newer old avant or post-postmodern avant, this might be the surprise hit of the season!

Doug Mosurock ~ Dusted Magazine : Five tracks of rounded, atavistic melodies and drones by this French duo of Julie Normal and Cheveu’s Olivier 2mo. Where many practitioners these days go the laptop/effects route, and dress up their compositions in effects that are meant to represent dread or fear, Accident du Travail get a leg up by playing real synths, human imperfections left whole, and let the tones speak for themselves, somewhere between the lilting decay of Discreet Music and the disorientating phantom flirt of Maryanne Amacher’s Sound Characters (Making the Third Ear). Not to paint this group into a religious corner, but there is a peace and balance within these compositions that we don’t normally find in latter-day electronic music that brushes against what’s accomplished here. Bits of percussion and rattle phase their ways into the most straightforward release yet on this label, which turns down the dissonance significantly and focuses more on the journey itself. It’s an impressive, subdued work, and anyone looking to end their evening on a restful comedown should look within.

Tom Lax ~ Siltbreeze: I was expectin shards of wood & pearly keys bein strewn from here to Timbuktu. But paint my face ‘n call me Marcel Marceau if this ain’t a lovely & beautifully paced ep. Comprised of 24 minutes’ve lusterous hamonics as well as some tweaked melodies, this really taps into the cranium like a perfect bridge between Boulez & Lard Free. Great modal progressions too, hey, if this was as ’75 as it sounds, you can bet your Birkenstocks it would’ve been on that NWW list. And if you didn’t know it was members of Cheveu & Cradle Of Smurf whats behind this, well, you wouldn’t know it. On a cold day like we got here, these sounds really warm up the room. Bruit Direct delivers another winner, hat’s off to’em.
